John Johnson

April 4, 1936 — March 3, 2025

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of John H. Johnson, who departed this life on Monday, March 3, 2025, at the age of 88. Born on April 4, 1936, in Cameron, Oklahoma, John was the cherished son of the late Gilbert and Rose (Spencer) Johnson.

A proud graduate of Sweetser High School, John served honorably in the U.S. Navy from 1954 to 1959, a period that shaped his character and instilled a deep sense of duty. On December 17, 1960, he married the love of his life, Christina (Snyder) Johnson, who would be by his side through all of life's adventures.

John devoted 22 years of his life as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, where he became a familiar face to so many in his community.

Beyond his professional life, John had a deep love for the outdoors. His passion for nature led him to serve as the former president of the Wabash Chapter of the Izaak Walton League. His hobbies included fishing, woodworking, traveling, biking, and working in his garden, all of which allowed him to create cherished moments with family and friends.

John leaves behind his devoted wife, Christina Johnson; daughters Angela (John) Pasqua of Jacksonville, FL, and Paula (Chuck) Voltz of O'Fallon, MO; son John (Pamela Wu) Johnson; and five adoring grandchildren: Sarah Voltz, Lauren Pasqua, Emily Pasqua, Spencer Voltz, and Hunter Johnson. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, George Johnson.

There will be no services for John H. Johnson.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Acers Land Trust, 1802 Chapman Rd, Huntertown, IN 46748, honoring John's love for nature.
