John E Horine

John E.Horine, 75, passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2019, at Lutheran Hospital, from injuries sustained in a tractor accident. John was born on June 4, 1943, to the late Everett and MaryHorine. He graduated fromSwayzeeHigh School in 1961 and then joined the National Guard. He worked forDelcoRemy for many years, retiring in 1996. On November 8, 1981, hemarried the love of his life, Glenda Sides. John was a very kind and giving man. An extremely hard worker, he was always busy. He loved living in the countrywhere he raised chickens, worked on small engines, and farmed his land. John loved to camp. He was hoping the rain would finally let up, so he and Glenda could finally go camping at Hidden Lake. He enjoyed their trips to Blue Ridge Parkway. An excellent cook, he could usually be found at hisTraegersmoker, smokingthe best bacon you ever tasted. He also loved animals, especially his dogs, Maggie, who survives, and Jake, who recently passed away. John was a family man and adored his grandchildren. He made sure that they all knew how much he loved them, and never left them without telling them so. He will be greatly missed by many. John is survived by his wife, Glenda, Upland; two sons, Eric (Leslie) Hollingsworth, Walton, and Jason Hollingsworth, Upland; six grandchildren, Jonathon Hollingsworth,LanieMiller, Owen Lowe, Shelby Hollingsworth,JurnieHollingsworth,AubriHollingsworth; mother-in-law, Zelpha McCann, Marion; three sisters, Jeanette Coffin, Marion, Phyllis (Joe) Seward,Fowlerton, and Marilyn Thatcher, Cicero; sister-in-law, BeverlyHorine, Fairmount; Glendas siblings, Everett(Virginia) Sides, Anderson, Brenda (Vaughn) Brown, Fort Wayne, and Sharon (Larry)Goins Gas City; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Mary; and brother, AllenHorine. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Fairmount Chapel ofArmes-HuntFuneral Home and Cremation Services. In accordance with Johns wishes, there will be a sunset graveside service on Monday, May 20, 2019, at Knox Chapel Cemetery in Fairmount, at 7:30 p.m. with Reverend Lloyd Hall officiating. Contributions made in memory of John may be sent to the Marion-Grant County Humane Society, 505 S. Miller Ave., Marion, Indiana 46953.
