Joe E. Wiggins, 68, died unexpectedly on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at his Fairmount residence.
Joe was born in Crossville, Tennessee, son of the late Lightning Wiggins and the late Naomi (Kindrick) Boles. Joe had worked at Midwest Food Packers before their closing and more recently at the Palace Bar where he was a bookkeeper for 25 years. He had also worked for The Star and The Pour House in Gas City. Joe was a happy, old school type of guy who enjoyed the simple things in life. He was an amazing dart player that could hit a bulls eye with his eyes closed. Hanging out with his son at the dirt track and working on the race car was something he held dear to his heart. He loved people, playing shuffle board, fishing and watching his favorite teams (Pacers, Colts, Notre Dame and IU) on TV. He had perfectly mastered the voice of Ernest T. Bass.
Joe is survived by his sons, Joe (Madeana) Wiggins, Jonesboro and Ryan Wiggins, Marion; grandchildren, Kiersten Wiggins, Allyson Stepp, Brandon Derry, Alana Zerbe, and Mary Zerbe; and sibling; Polly and Arthur Wiggins; and several nieces and nephews.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents Lightning and Naomi, and step father, Jonnie "Booger" Boles and siblings, Frankie, Danny and Earline Wiggins; granddaughter Valerie Wiggins
