Becky Jill Clock, 78, passed away on Saturday, December 21,2019, in Hartford City,Indiana, after an extended illness. Jill was born on February 25,1941, in Marion, Indiana. Anonly child, she was the pride and joy of her parents, Blake and Gladys (Lees) Thompson. Jillgrew up in Upland, Indiana, and graduated from Jefferson High School in 1959. It was there thatshe met the love of her life, Charles Earl Clock. These high school sweethearts were married onApril 20,1963. Jill was a stay at home mother for many years, and later worked for EastbrookCommunity Schools as a teachers assistant at Upland Elementary for 20 years. She retired fromthere in 2005. After retirement, she enjoyed traveling to see her grandchildren, and especiallytaking them all on trips to Disney World. Jill was an avid shopper, and loved frequent trips toIndianapolis for shopping days with her daughters and grandchildren. In 2009, Jill was dealt a devastating blow with the loss of her leg after a fall. However,she never let that unfortunate situation slow her down, and she dealt with setbacks in herhealth and mobility with dignity, strength, and grace. Then, in 2017, Jill was diagnosed withProgressive Supranuclear Palsy, a rare degenerative brain disease. Although life seemedimpossibly unfair at times, Jill again relied on her faith and her immense grit and determinationto continue to live life to its fullest. She was strong willed,stubborn, and determined til the end,and she will always be remembered for these strengths. Her favorite Bible verse is Philippians4:13, I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength. She certainly lived out thesewords in the last years of her life. Jill was a member of Grant United Methodist Church, and enjoyed going to gospelconcerts, traveling, and watching IU basketball games with her husband Earl. She was also amember of the New Mulberry Homemakers Extension Club for over 50 years, and received theGrant County Extension Homemakers Leadership award in 2010. Jill is survived by her husband of 56 years, Earl, and three daughters, Amy (Todd)Marshall of Bentonville, Arkansas, Andrea Fitzgerald of West Grove, Pennsylvania, and Jennifer(Jared) Jarck of Fairmount,Indiana. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, Holyn and HaydenMarshall, Brody and Bryce Fitzgerald, and Hayley and Andrew Jarck. Jill was preceded in death by her parents, Blake and Gladys Thompson. Arrangements have been entrusted to Armes-Hunt Funeral Home in Fairmount, Indiana.Visitation will be heldThursday, December 26, from 2-6 p.m. A funeral service will also be heldat Armes-Hunt Funeral Home on Friday, December 27, at 10:00 a.m.with Pastor ConstanceCherry officiating. Burial will be at Matthews Cemetery. Contributions made in memory of Jill may be made to Grant United Methodist Church. The family of Jill Clock would like to thank the many friends, caregivers, and familymembers who have helped support and love Jill and her family in the last several years.
