Jean Ann Klemczewski, 66, of Upland passed away on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at Marion General Hospital due to COVID-19. Jean was born to Marla Lee Vance and raised by Jean Ann Godfrey,Jean was born May 20, 1955, in Columbus, Ohio to Mary Vance (Stearns) and adopted from the Friends Rescue Home by Oliver John and Dorothy Virginia (Sloop) Godfrey at birth. Dorothy passed away in 1960 when Jean was five and Oliver would marry Jean Bernice Knowles in 1964. Jean's brother David was adopted by Oliver and Jean B. Godfrey in 1957. David passed away in 1976. Jean's sister Martha Ann was born to Oliver and Jean B. Godfrey in 1968. Jean married Richard Lee Ihnen in 1973 and had two children, Heather Michelle Marlow (1975) and Alexander David Ihnen (1977). Jean married Michael Klemczewski in 1992, divorcing in 1998. A 1973 graduate from Eastbrook High School, Jean moved to North Manchester, Indiana upon marrying Richard. The couple divorced in 1984 and Jean lived in various places in Indiana and Michigan. She loved her grandchildren with all her heart and was an avid lover of animals, enjoyed reading, scrapbooking, collecting dolls, and never passed up a yard sale. Jean is survived by her mother Jean Bernice Godfrey of Upland, Indiana, sister Martha Ann and Jim Baker of Marion, Indiana, daughter Heather Michelle and Michael Marlow of Millersburg, Indiana, son Alexander David and Katie Ihnen of Cincinnati, Ohio, grandchildren Ainsley and Levi Marlow, Lucy, Oscar, Harriet, and John Ihnen, and nephews Emmett and Andrew Baker. She was preceded in death by her father Oliver John Godfrey, brother David John Godfrey, first adopted mother Dorothy Virginia (Sloop) Godfrey, her aunt Marjorie (Marge) Pearl Curren and uncle Paul G. Curren, and grandmother Alma Ida Godfrey. Jean will be laid to rest at Fairview Cemetery in Galion, OH, joining her grandmother, father and brother, among other relatives. Arrangements are being handled by the Jones-Smith Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home in Upland. A memorial service will be held at a later date. The family would like to thank the many caretakers who selflessly cared for Jean Ann and brought joy and comfort to her life. Special thanks are given to the staff, nurses, and doctors at Marion General Hospital who treated Jean Ann for COVID in her final days. Arrangements for Jean have been entrusted to the Jones-Smith Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services. No Services are scheduled. It was Jean's wish's to be cremated.
