Surrounded by family, Janie Jefferies went Home with Jesus on March 20, 2024 after a short illness. She was the youngest daughter of Denzil and Eva (Clark) Thompson born on August 2, 1947. The youngest of 10 children, Janie always wanted family around. She loved spending time at home with her older siblings, as well as nieces and nephews. There was usually music in the air when the family was home.
She married Milo "Dewey" J. Jefferies, Jr. on May 24, 1969 and they lived a fulfilled life together until Dewey went Home on May 12, 2019. The two of them spent a lot of time on the porch just listening to old country music like Merle Haggard and later enjoyed the grandbabies doing just about anything the children wanted to do. The two of them loved spending time with each other and were seldom seen apart. One of their favorite pastimes was fishing together. Janie's time was mostly spent taking care of family and making sure they always had something to eat. Her porch was always open for fellowship and a hot cup of coffee. Most likely, there was also a fresh batch of cookies or a pie to share. She loved swinging with "Beemaw's Phweet Phweet Boy" (great-grandson).
Janie's core values, as written in her own words, "God and family first. Don't make merry of someone else's misfortunes. You don't just deserve respect. You have to earn it. You 'always' reap what you sow and you teach people how to treat you."
