James Gall

James Richard Gall, 88, entered the presence of his Lord and Savior, on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at University Nursing Center in Upland.

He was born April 30, 1936, in Tipton County, Indiana, to Albert J. and Lillie (Peters) Gall. He married Kathleen Ada Maloney on September 13, 1958, and they celebrated 66 years this month.

A 1954 Tipton High School graduate, Jim lettered in football all four years, was involved in FFA, and joined the Naval Air Reserve his junior year and served eight years as Aviation Machinist Mate. After completing a course in engineering design at Acme Tool and Die Design, Kokomo, Jim joined Oakes Manufacturing, Tipton. In 1959, he moved on to General Motors, Fisher Body, where he was a design engineer for 39 1/2 years, while also farming. Jim was a good Christian man, encouraging young people by teaching Sunday school, leading AWANA Sparkies, and driving a church bus every week to Fairmount. There were many, many summers of mission trips to Mexico. He served as Deacon many of the 50+ years that he was a member of Union Chapel Baptist.

He is survived by his wife, Kathleen; children, Jeffrey (Kyle) Gall, Upland, Janice (Randy) Rickner, McDonough, Georgia, Joseph (Susan) Gall, Upland, Jeanette (Kenneth) Wisehart, Marion, and Jerry (Valerie) Gall, Marion; sisters, Martha Hiatt and Margaret Robinson; grandchildren, Brent and Brandon Gall, Jennifer and Nathan Rickner, Elizabeth (Jason) Runyan, Christen Gall, Britney (Jake) Wallbaum, Ashton (Andrew) Flegge, Grant (Miranda) and Heather Gall, Megan Lada, Meredith Wisehart, and Whitney and Taylor Gall; and 11 great-grandchildren. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Stillwater Hospice for the great care they provided to Jim.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and five sisters.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Jones-Smith Chapel of Armes-Hunt Life Celebration Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 259 North Main Street, Upland, Indiana 46989, where a visitation will be held on Thursday, September 26, 2024, from 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 12:30 p.m. Burial will take place at Jefferson Cemetery in Upland.
