1941 James 2024

James Florea

August 30, 1941 — October 21, 2024

James Edward Florea, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on October 21, 2024, at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana. Born in Fairmount, IN, on August 30, 1941, James lived a life filled with passion for the open road, family, and hard work.

A skilled Die Maker in the automotive industry for over 40 years at General Motors, James was known for his unwavering dedication and remarkable work ethic. He graduated from Fairmount High School in 1959 and was a true craftsman who could fix anything and was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.

Throughout his life, James enjoyed the simple pleasures, particularly riding his red Honda Goldwing with his wife, Sandra. Together, they traveled to all 50 states on their beloved motorcycle, creating memories that would last a lifetime. He relished the outdoors, spending his time hunting pheasants and deer, finding solace in the beauty of the countryside, where he had lived for 40 years. If you didn't immediately see him sitting on his swing, enjoying the great outdoors, you would most likely find him out in his workshop.

James was a devoted family man, cherishing his time with his wife of 63 years, Sandy, daughter Nancy, and grandson. He lived by the motto "say what you mean and mean what you say," embodying integrity and honesty in all that he did.

James is survived by his wife, Sandra; daughter, Nancy Endara, Sarasota, Florida; grandson, Alexander "Alex" Endara, Sarasota, Florida; great-grandson, Liam Endara, Sarasota, Florida; and half-brother, Charlie Florea, Fairmount.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Florea; father, James Florea; and stepmother, Dorothy Florea.

Arrangements for James have been entrusted to Fairmount Chapel of Armes-Hunt Life Celebration Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 415 South Main Street, Fairmount, Indiana 46928, where a visitation will be held on Saturday, October 26, from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. A memorial service will follow at 12:00 p.m. Burial will take place at Park Cemetery at a later date.

James will be remembered for his love of family, hard work, and the open road, leaving behind a legacy of resilience, integrity, and compassion that will continue to inspire all who knew him. May his memory be a blessing and his spirit forever ride free on the open highways of our hearts.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
