James Earl Ford, known to everyone as Jim, passed away on Monday June 12, 2023 at the age of 71.
Jim was born to Clayton and Noreen Ford on May 4,1952 in Marion Indiana. A Licensed Contractor by trade, Jim found his true career for over 25 years when he started working for the City of Pinellas Park in the building department. He continued by working with St. Petersburg, Hillsborough County, and finally the City of Seminole where he ultimately retired as the cities building official. When not working in the building departments, he enjoyed attending conferences, teaching and networking with other building officials through the Building Officials Association of Florida. All of his other time was dedicated to family, from coaching and umpiring baseball to attending band concerts, competitions and spending vacations with his grandchildren. After his family, Jim’s favorite pastime was watching and rooting for all of the Tampa Bay sports franchises. He was a true fan and would watch every game he could and would discuss the status of each team with anyone who would listen. That conversation always started with “How ‘bout them…..”
Jim is survived by his wife of 48 years Teresa (Teri), son Chad (wife Kendra), daughter Cassie (husband Steve), and grandchildren Caleb, Kaitlyn, and Jacob. He is also survived by brother Scott Ford and sister Jane Ann Underwood. Jim was predeceased by parents Clayton and Noreen and brother Donnie.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday June 24 at 1:00pm at Elevated Church located at 4371 76th Ave N. Pinellas Park Fl 33781.
In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Canine Companions, the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association in Jim’s name.
