James Harley Dunham, 84, went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 13, 2025. A lifelong resident of Summitville, IN. He was born Dec. 3rd, 1940 to the late Cecil and Wilma (Thomas) Dunham to whom he was devoted. Jim eventually took over the family farm from Cecil but sought his counsel until Cecil's passing. Jim was also dedicated to each of his siblings and was preceded in death by his brother and best friend Don Dunham of Sevierville, TN as well as his beloved older sister, Cecilia Hurt, whom he lost just 3 months before he passed. He is survived by his brother Daryl Dunham, Summitville, IN and Cynthia Pyle of Kokomo, IN who introduced him to the love of his life the late Denise (Dadiras) Dunham who passed away just two months ago on January 12, 2025. Jim and Denise were married on May 28, 1969. Jim stayed by her side until the end.

Jim was a 1958 graduate of Summitville High School and after graduation went along with a couple of classmates to trade school in Cleveland,OH to become a certified welder. Jim also served in the United States National Guard. He would spend 22 years working for the U.S. Postal service and had a rural route in Elwood, IN where his gentle manner and attention to detail were appreciated by the residents he served. Jim ran the family farm for the majority of his life until he 'retired' and allowed Jim Dunham Jr. to take over, however, he remained active until the end.

He is survived by his two sons; James Dunham Jr. of Summitville, IN and Jason (Tricia) Dunham of Fairmount, IN. Along with 8 grandchildren: Deanna (Juan) Regalado of Rothbury, MI, Kaylee Dunham of Indianapolis, Harley Dunham of Athens, TN, and Olivia Dunham of Summitville, IN, as well as Boaz Dunham, Haddie Dunham, Jude Dunham, and Zipporah Dunham of Fairmount, IN. Along with 3 great grandchildren Mona, Leo, and Ace Regalado. Additionally, Jim is survived by his two God-children Kyle (Britnee) Van Matre of Fairmount, IN and Erica Gipson of Bonaire, GA. Jim is also survived by many nieces and nephews with whom he had special relationships and have supported him and his sons' during these last few difficult months.

Jim was devoted to his family and enjoyed nothing more than attending his grandchildren's concerts, programs, and sporting events. He was especially looking forward to watching Olivia's upcoming softball games. A longtime member of the congregation at Back Creek Wesleyan and then Fairmount Wesleyan, Jim was a quiet soft-spoken man who was thankful for the support of his church family. Jim also had a love for the staff at Summit Health and Living as he had spent most of his evenings over the last couple of years there visiting Denise and Daryl.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Fairmount Chapel of Armes-Hunt Life Celebration Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 415 S. Main Street, Fairmount, Indiana. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 3, 2025 from 5-7 PM. Funeral Service celebrating Jim's life will be on Friday April 4, 2025 at 11 AM with Pastor Aaron Chester officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery, Fairmount.
