James David "JD" Williams passed away on June 26, 2022 at the age of 75 years old. He was born at St. John's Hospital in Anderson, IN on May 4, 1947 to the late Fred and Martha (Janice) Williams. He grew up in Fairmount, and graduated from Fairmount High School in 1965. He was the drummer in a small rock band, the "Cardinals," while at FHS. Jim joined the Air Force in 1966, serving one year in Thailand as an electrician during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in 1969. Jim and his high school sweetheart, Judy Venitz, were married in 1967, celebrating over 55 years of happy memories and she survives. He was blessed with the birth of 2 children, whom he loved very much. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #635, Cub Scout Master, T-Ball and Little League Coach, and drum instructor for Bobbie's Marching Corp. Jim built a family home in Fairmount, in 1972, then designed and built an underground home in the country, west of town in 1985. Jim had a great sense of humor. He loved watching the Colts, Cincinnati Reds, and racing on T.V.. Jim was a journeyman electrician for General Motors for 39 years working at Guided Lamp in Anderson and Fisher Body in Marion, retiring in 2005. He attended Fairmount Friends Church. Jim is survived by his son, Kyle Williams, daughter Keri DeDecker, and special son-in-law Greg DeDecker. Five grandchildren, Cody and Kaitlyn Williams, Gavin Grant, and Kami DeDecker. Brother-in-law Ronald (Linda) Howe, niece Christa (Ron) Chitwood, Tracy Williams Clevenger, nephew, Craig (Kelly & Emma) Howe, Chad Williams (and family), Lisa Clevenger, cousins, Barbara and Donna Gibson. Jim was preceded in death by parents Fred and Janice; brother, Philip D.; beloved dog, Toby Jo. The family would like to say thank you to Kindred Hospice for Jim's kind care. Graveside services for family and friends will be on Sunday, July 24, at 1:00 p.m. at Park Cemetery in Fairmount, Indiana 46928, with Pastor Brock Meyer officiating. Memorial contributions can be made out to the Salvation Army, or Grant County Rescue Mission is Jim's memory.
