James D. Mitchell

James D. Mitchell, 66 died unexpectedy Saturday January 16, 2021 at his home. James was born September 8, 1954 at Marion, Indiana to the late Troy C. and Mary Elizabeth (Odum) Mitchell. He graduated from Madison-Grant High School class of 1973 and was an US Army Veteran, member of the Fairmount Masonic Lodge #635 and Scottish Rite Valley of Ft. Wayne where he was a MSA he also was Past Master of the Masonic Lodge. He was a member of the Coon Hunters Association of America and enjoyed working his coon dogs. He enjoyed playing snooker pool and always enjoyed his annual Labor Day Bash and was a founder of the Masonic Awareness of Grant County. He married Diane Popp December 17, 2017, she survives. He is also survived by his children, Nathan (Tiffany) Mitchell, Lafayette, IN Joshua Mitchell, Anderson, IN and Matthew Mitchell, Marion, IN. Lindsay Fansler, Fairmount, IN and Kristin Kidwell, Marion, IN Grandchildren, Journey and Georgia Mitchell, and Savannah Kidwell. Brother, Clifton D Mitchell, TN. He is preceded in death by a son Jonathon Lee Mitchell. Services for Jim will Wednesday January 20, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Fairmount Chapel Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 415 S. Main St. Fairmount, IN with Rev. Glen Davis officiating, interment will follow at Marion National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-7 PM Tuesday January 19, 2021 at the funeral home. Masonic services will be at 7:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Masonic Home Foundation, 525 N.
