J. Michael Harrison

Mike Harrison, 82, of Jonesboro, died peacefully early Thursday morning, September 5, 2019, at home. He was born on December 6, 1936, in Jefferson Township, Grant County, the son of the late James E. and Coronellia E. (Briggs) Harrison. He graduated from Jefferson Township High School in 1954 and Indiana Business College, Ft. Wayne, in 1956 with a degree in Accounting. He married Carol Ann Beaman, his high school sweetheart, on March 11, 1956. Mike was employed by Fisher Body for 30 years and retired in 1999 as comptroller from Grand Rapids, MI. He also worked at plants in Marion, IN, Detroit and Grand Rapids, MI, Cleveland and Euclid, OH. After retirement Mike traveled the country in a motorhome for 10 years, and then settled in Van Buren and finally Jonesboro. He also worked for Weaver Popcorn, Van Buren and Red Gold, Elwood. Survivors include his daughter: Marcia Dawn (Kenny) Bennett, Muncie; son: Martin Neil Harrison, Fairmount; close friend and loving companion: Mamie Hasty, Hartford City; 7 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Carol; two sons: Phillip and Andrew; his second wife, Christina; and two sisters: Patricia Haney and Billie Harrison. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Jones-Smith Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home Cremation Services, 259 N. Main St., Upland, Indiana for cremation. Mike has requested no visitation or funeral service be held. Interment will be in Matthews Cemetery, Matthews. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
