Gwendolon Phelps

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gwendolon L. Phelps, age 86, of Marion, Indiana. Gwendolon entered into eternal rest on January 27, 2025. She was born on April 26, 1938, in Marion, to Charles Marks and Ruth (Donaldson) Marks, who instilled in her the values of hard work and dedication.

Gwendolon served as a devoted employee at Foster Forbes, where she worked as a glass bottle packer. Following her retirement, she embraced a new chapter of her life, finding joy and purpose in her role in sales at Elder Beerman. She cherished the time spent with her co-workers, which enriched her life and brought her immense happiness.

Gwendolon leaves behind a loving family, including her three sons, Paul (Polly) Scott of Anderson, Arlen (Lorinda) Scott of Marion, and Robert Scott of Marion. She was a proud grandmother to nine grandchildren; Rachel Scott, Sara (Nathan) Bunnell, Kyle (Alexis) Canfield, April Scott, Arlen (Lisa) Scott II, Ashlee (Danny) Johnson, Trey Scott, Clara Scott, and Elizabeth McDowell. Gwendolon also leaves a legacy of love through her eleven great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her husband, James F. Phelps, her parents Charles and Ruth, sister Mary Eib, and brother Charles Jr. Marks, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.

A celebration of Gwendolons remarkable life will take place on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Glad Tidings Family Church, located at 401 East Highland, Marion, Indiana 46952. Visitation will be held from 12-2 P.M. followed by a service to honor her memory at 2:00 P.M.

The caring arrangements for Gwendolon have been entrusted to Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services at 4601 South Western Avenue, Marion, Indiana 46952.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Armes-Hunt Funeral Home to assist with the expenses of the funeral.
