Gladys 'Jean' Coyle

Gladys Jean (Blevins) Coyle, 84, of rural Matthews died Monday, October 21, 2019 in Marion General Hospital. She was born on April 3, 1935 in Owingsville, Kentucky, the daughter of the late John and Bessie (Staton) Blevins. Jean married Carroll D. Coyle on December 25, 1953. Together they shared 64 years, before he preceded her in death on July 19, 2018. Mrs. Coyle was a homemaker and attended First Community Church, Matthews, and Pleasant Grove Church, Hartford City. She enjoyed watching game shows, and RFD TV. She was a fan of the music of Marty Stewart and Joey Rory. Survivors include three sons: Carroll Thomas (Cindy) Coyle, Upland; Michael L. Coyle, Fairmount; and Patrick D. (Laura) Coyle, Upland; four grandchildren: Tracy (Stephen) Hyatt, Marion; Carroll Thomas (Lacey) Coyle, Jr., West Lafayette; Zachary W. Coyle, Hartford City; and Lucas K. (Cheyenne) Coyle, Hartford City; one great grandson: Ryan Jacob Coyle; and one great grandson on the way, Logan Keenan Coyle. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers: James Blevins and Charles Blevins; and three sisters: Irene Forman, Dorothy Hunt, and Lillian Thompson. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Jones-Smith Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home Cremation Services, 259 N. Main St., Upland, where a visitation will be held from 5-7 pm on Wednesday, October 23, 2019. The funeral service will be at 1:30 pm on Thursday, October 24, 2019 at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Matthews Cemetery, Matthews.
