Geraldine Jessup

Geraldine Ann Jessup, 90, of Summitville, died, Thursday, March 27, 2025 at Westminster Village in Muncie.

Geraldine was born on April 15, 1934 in Gaston, Indiana, daughter of the late Paul J. and Ruth (Clock) Mitchener. She graduated from Jefferson High School. Geraldine and Roger L. Jessup were married on June 5, 1954. He preceded her in death on June 9, 2006. Roger and Gerry worked together raising their four children and tending to the family farm where she was not only a wife and mother but a farm hand and gardener. She had also worked throughout the years at the Fairmount Trustee Office for Ruth Baker, worked at Fairmount State Bank, and the Mississinewa Vocation Office. Geraldine enjoyed gardening and canning, caring for her grandchildren and traveling. She and Roger traveled for the Indiana House of Representatives and Senate Group, attending the Governor's Ball for 25 years. They also attended President Ronald Reagan's Inauguration. She had attended both Grant Church and Fairmount Friends, where she enjoyed attending Bible Study. She loved gospel music, the Gaithers being among her favorites.

Geraldine is survived by her daughter's Rita Ann (Larry) Shreve, Albany, Indiana and Mary Elizabeth Jessup, Columbia City, Indiana; grandchildren, Jeff (Sara) Jessup, and Sarah (Adam) Smith; great-grandchildren, Jace and Aniston, Jessup, daughter-in-law; Valeria "Lynne" Jessup Franklin.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Ruth, husband, Roger, daughter, Karen Sue Jessup Trumbo, son, Bill Jessup, and siblings, Jack Mitchener, Charles Mitchener, Betty Powers, and Phyllis White.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Fairmount Chapel of Armes-Hunt Life Celebration Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 415 S. Main Street, Fairmount, Indiana. Services for Geraldine will be held at the Fairmount Friends Church, 124 W. 1st Street, Fairmount, Indiana on Thursday, April 3, 2025. Visitation will be from 10-11 AM with the funeral service at 11 AM with Pastors Curtis Banker, Brock Meyer and Andrew Heald officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery.
