Franklin "Frank" Wayman

August 5, 1944 — January 4, 2025

Gas City

Franklin "Frank" E. Wayman, 80, of Gas City, Indiana, passed away on January 4, 2025, peacefully surrounded by his loving family. Born on August 5, 1944, in Marion, Indiana, Frank was a faithful husband, father, grandfather, brother, and neighbor, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, love, and service.

He attended and graduated from high school and college in Texas and California, prior to moving back to Indiana, and then he attended tool and die classes in Marion. Frank married the love of his life, Geraldine (Lucero) Wayman, on October 30, 1979, she survives. Frank retired from GM in Marion, as a tool and die operator in 2005.

Frank's keen intelligence and dry sense of humor often turned the most mundane moments into cherished memories. He had an uncanny ability to make others laugh, delighted in his own jokes, and was always quick to share a story or a witty quip, often bringing smiles to faces even on the coldest days, which he vehemently disliked.

A passionate animal lover, he found joy in spending quality time with his family. Frank was an avid NASCAR fan. He dedicated countless hours to metal detecting and arrowhead hunting, often returning home with treasures and tales to tell. His love for reading and gardening provided him with solace, while his collections dotted the corners of his home-each item imbued with a story.

Frank's commitment to his community was evident in his volunteer work with the Gas City Historical Society, The Well Food Pantry, and the Mississinewa 1812 reenactment, where he brought history to life with his insightful observations and infectious enthusiasm. He was a good neighbor, always ready to lend a hand or share a friendly smile.

His family will remember him for his resilience, his dedication to hard work, and the unwavering support he showed to those around him.

"Soap is cheap and manners are free", F.E. Wayman.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Paul E. Wayman, Sr. and Mary Lucille (Vetor) Howell; siblings, Shirley A. Hawk, and Charles E. Wayman.

He is survived by his wife, Geraldine (Lucero) Wayman, Gas City; children, Rhonda M. Wayman, Marion; Misty R. (Vanlandingham) Lee, Brawley, CA; and Chad (Josie Buck) Vanlandingham, Gas City; sister, Esther L. (Wayman) Blythe, Lillian, AL; grandchildren, Eric W.
