Eva J Booher

March 23, 1937 — June 28, 2022

Eva Booher, 85 passed away in her home Tuesday, June 28, 2022. Eva was born to Arthur and Millie Stevens on March 23, 1937, in Lafontaine, Indiana. She graduated from Lafontaine High School and married Buddie Booher on November 22, 1957. In her 85 years, Eva (Stevens) Booher taught her friends and family many things. She taught us how to passionately and faithfully support your favorite sports team. For decades she would travel with her husband Bud, sister and brother-in-law Elda Mae and Joe Bunch, and her loyal friends Art and Sharlene Stover to every Marion Giants Basketball game. We also learned how to cheer loud enough that the whole neighborhood could tell how the Hoosiers were playing on any given night. She taught us to value eating home-cooked meals around the dinner table, but also, on occasion, that dessert, often the most important part of the meal, could be eaten first, especially if there were black raspberries or pineapple upside cake involved. She taught us that you needed to make your own luck, even more so when you were going to the casino. We also learned that sometimes you need to make your own rules when playing games at home like Grandma always goes first. Most importantly, Eva taught us how to use our hearts to the fullest. She made sure that all her "kids" were loved, including the neighborhood children that needed a ride or a meal, or all the bonus grandkids she "adopted" whenever she spent time with her grandchildren and their friends. Born on March 23, 1937, Eva was always a force to be reckoned with. She didn't know how to take no for an answer, and frankly, she always got her way. Even as she grew weary over the last few months, she continued to show love for everyone around her by being as sassy as ever. Eva was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Millie Stevens; her husband, Bud Booher; her son, Mitch Booher; her grandson, Chuck Cleghorn; and several siblings and their spouses. Eva is survived by her daughter, Kathy (Brian) Landrum; her daughter-in-law, Kathy Booher; her sister, Elda Mae Weaver; grandchildren, Ryan Booher, Sean (Kortany) Booher, Kyle Booher, Katie (Brady Bowdoin) Landrum, Susan (Heath) Sandlin, Stephanie (Antwan) Odom; family friend, Beth Shrontz; great-grandchildren, Jack, Wyatt, Jenaya, Jaylen, Foster, Evalee, Allison Maltz, Kelsey (Jake) Bryson, Mason, Jake, Braxton, Nathan, Noah; and great-great-grandchildren Anderson and Miles. Eva will be sadly missed by her extended family and long-time friends. Her family says it will be hard to imagine holidays and events without her hugs, smile, and sass. In the meantime, they promise to cheer on the Marion Giants and the Hoosiers, and maybe even Alabama football. They know she's watching them (and their choice in slot machines!) from her final resting place. Arrangements for Eva have been entrusted to College Park Chapel of Armes-Hunt funeral Home and Cremation Services, 4601 South Western AVenue, Marion, Indiana 46953, where on Thursday, July 7, 2022, there will be a visitation held from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M., with the funeral service beginning at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Mick Simpkins officiating.
