Doris Ann Case

Doris Ann (James) Case, 90, passed away with her family by her side, on Friday, July 26, 2019, at Visiting Nurse Hospice Home in Fort Wayne. Doris was born on November 26, 1928, to the late Wilbur and Pearl James. She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1945. She married Floyd Case on August 5, 1949, and he preceded her in death on April 7, 2014. Doris served as a caregiver for her family all her life, faithfully caring for her elderly family members, and also worked as a caregiver professionally for 14 years at University Nursing Center and Twin City Healthcare. She also was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Hartford City. She enjoyed gardening and taking care of her beautiful flowers. Doris is survived by her daughters, Roberta Gardner, Indianapolis, Janice (Steve) Collins, Columbia, TN, Floella Case, Enumclaw, WA, Roxie Parnell, Columbia, TN, and Melanie Harper, Roanoke; son-in-law, Mike (Becky) Sommer, Elkhart; sister, Bonetha Mae Smith, Swayzee; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbur and Pearl; husband, Floyd; daughter, Mary Sommer;sons-in-law Bill Gardner, Rick Harper, and Gene Parnell; companion, Donald Wolfgang; grandson, Jayson Collins; and sisters, Mildred Lakin and Margret Schaffer. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Jones-Smith Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 259 North Main Street, Upland, Indiana 46989, where a visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 30, 2019, from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Laura High officiating. Burial will take place at Elizabethtown Cemetery in Delaware County.
