Donald Welton

Donald Welton, 84 passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at Colonial Oaks Health Care. He was born on August 7, 1939, in Marion, Indiana to Harold and Marie (Black) Welton. He graduated from Mississinewa High School in 1957 and then went into the Army where he met Sigrid Johne and they married on June 11, 1961. She survives.

Don was the owner of Don Welton Homes for thirty years before retirement. Don was a compassionate individual with a strong affinity for children, as demonstrated in his involvement in coaching kids in Basketball at the YMCA. He was an avid golfer. Don was one of the original founders of the Grant County Rescue Mission where he served as Board President for several years and worked in the retail stores. He founded the Christian Prayer Breakfast in Marion and was on the Board of Directors at St. James Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. He sang in the choir at church and was a part of a traveling signing quartet. Don was an extremely caring individual with a strong sense of community involvement.

Don is survived by his wife of 62 years Sigrid, his son Dion, and his twin brother Ronald (Ursula). He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Annette S. Welton, brother Robert and sister Rose Marie.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the College Park Chapel of Armes-Hunt Life Celebration Funeral Home and Cremation Services 4601 South Western Avenue, Marion, Indiana 46953. A visitation will be held Monday, January 29, 2024, from 3:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at the College Park Chapel. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at 1:00 P.M. at St. James Lutheran Church Missouri Synod at 1206 North Miller Avenue Marion, Indiana 46952 with Reverend Fred Hearn presiding.
