Donald "Don" E. Clevenger

Donald E. Clevenger, 75 of Marion died at his home Monday, October 26, 2020 surrounded by his wife and daughters. Don loved his wife Sarah "Sally" (Jacob), married 56 years. Also surviving are his daughters: Laura (Bart) Matney of Summitville, IN and Martha (Mike) Alexander of Greenwood, IN. His sister: Jackie Michaelson, Philadelphia, PA; brother: Richard (Karen) Clevenger, Lawrenceville, GA. Grandchildren: Garrett Matney, Lacey, WA, Abigail "Abi" Matney (Fianc Jared Swenson) of Summitville, IN, Rebekkah (fianc Mikie Huff) Alexander of Blacksburg, VA and Emma Alexander, Greenwood, IN. He is preceded in death by his parents Michael and Mary Clevenger, his brother Joseph, and in-laws William and Dorothy Jacob. Don was employed at Chrysler in Kokomo for 16 years, IBM serving the northeast Indiana territory for 13 years, and retired from the United States Postal Service after 13 years. Throughout those years he also drove a tour bus and school bus. Don was a creative man with many talents and could fix just about anything; cooking, car and home repair, woodworking, carving, fly tying, whatever he put his mind to. He never met a tool he didn't like. He enjoyed travel; when preparing he would get his maps out, determine his route and never looked at the map again. He enjoyed spontaneous excursions and would just start driving; it was always an adventure. His favorite past time was fishing, whether from his boat or flyfishing. He enjoyed spending time in nature and always said he felt closest to God while walking in the woods. He started each day with his Bible and a cup of coffee. He enjoyed teaching Sunday School and leading Bible studies. He loved his family and particularly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Don was very involved in Three Rivers Wesleyan Church in Fort Wayne and more recently attended Maple Run Friends Church, Marion, Indiana. Funeral arrangements for Don have been entrusted to the College Park Chapel Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 4601 S. Western Ave., Marion, Indiana, 46953, where on Saturday, October 31, 2020, there will be a gathering held for friends and family from 12:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M., with a Memorial Service beginning at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Max Downs officiating. Burial will take place at a later date. Due to the COVID pandemic, masks are required.
