Donald "Bud" W. Brankle

Donald W. "Bud" Brankle, 88, died Wednesday morning, December 23, 2020 in Heritage Pointe, Warren. He was born in Dunbar, West Virginia on September 10, 1932, the son of the late William Edgar "Ed" and Blanche (Penrod) Brankle. Bud graduated from Van Buren High School in 1950. He married the love of his life, Bernadine "Bobbie" Phillabaum on November 4, 1951. She survives. Mr. Brankle served in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1953-1955. Bud was a Contractor and owned Bud Brankle Construction for around 50 years; building his last house in 2009. He attended Upland Community Church for many years and was a member of the Lions Club and Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed working, building houses, gardening, watching baseball and basketball, and spending time with his family. In addition to his wife of 69 years, Bobbie, survivors include two daughters: Andra (Gary) McIntyre, Fort Wayne; and Kyle (Jeff) Gall, Upland; two grandsons: Brent and Brandon Gall; and three brothers: William Frederick "Fred" (Janet) Brankle; Byron "Butch" (Lynda) Brankle; and Myron "My" (Paula) Brankle. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Jones-Smith Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home, 259 N. Main St., Upland, where a visitation will be held from Noon-2pm, Tuesday, December 29, 2020. The funeral service will be at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow in Jefferson Cemetery, Upland. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, everyone in attendance is asked to please wear a mask.
