Diana K. Patterson

December 21, 1949 — September 24, 2023

Diana K. Patterson, 73, of Fairmount, passed away on Sunday, September 24, 2023, in Indianapolis. Diana was born on December 21, 1949, in Marion, to the late Charles Vermilion and late Martha L. (Lowery) Vermilion Swihart, she was the youngest of four children. Diana graduated from Marion High School in 1968. She worked at RCA/Thomson for nearly 30 years in production, then worked a short time at Franking Electric, and lastly was the librarian at the Fairmount Public Library for many years until she retired a couple of years ago.

Diana was a person that you wanted to know. She was a generous, kind-hearted, friendly, warm, and compassionate person. Diana was a small town kind of woman, she enjoyed having a supporting community as well as always supporting whoever was in need, and she enjoyed the simplicity of her little town. Her faith was important to her, she was spiritual, and found great comfort in Jesus and going to heaven.

Diana spent most of her life in Grant County. There were a couple of years in the late 60's that she lived in Germany, and she had her son, David, while living there. Diana's greatest achievement in her life was dedicating it to her children and grandchildren. She was that steady and comforting person that they all loved dearly. Diana loved to garden, care for her home, the color yellow, sweets, diet coke, and listening to and singing music. She was on a bowling league in her younger years. Diana was a tough euchre player, her grandson Carson enjoyed playing with her and he trashed talked the whole time they would play. Diana was a skilled cross-stitcher, she won ribbons. Diana loved hummingbirds, she cross-stitched them quite frequently, she had feeders out and enjoyed watching them. One of her favorite things to do was to go to the tulip festival in Holland, Michigan, with her daughter, Abby. Tulips were her favorite flower.

Diana is survived by her daughter, Abby (Ryan) Kellner, NY; daughter-in-law, Gina Hartley, Westfield; siblings, Charles "Butch" (Madrue) Vermilion, Judith Hale, and Steve "Boogie" (Becky) Vermilion; grand-children, Grayson and Emily Kellner, Madison, Carson, and Reagan Hartley.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her son, David Hartley.
