Deborah Jean Manley

Deborah Jean (Thien) Manley, 65, of Fairmount, Indiana, passed peacefully at 5:11 p.m. on February 5, 2022, at her sister's home surrounded by loved ones. She was born July 19, 1956, to Vincent F. Thien and Marie B. (Woltering) Thien Moss in Breese, Illinois. She graduated high school in 1974 at Madison Grant, in Fairmount. She Joined the Army shortly after in 1975. As a published author she wrote multiple books expressing emotions through poetry. She retired from Maytag in Newton, Iowa, in 2005. Shortly after, she moved back to Fairmount. She was an avid gardener, loved to cook and enjoyed arts and crafts. Above all she loved being a mother to her children and grandmother to her four grandchildren. Deborah Jean is survived by her two daughters, Stephanie (Jeffery Pratt) Sliger, and Shanetta (Jacob Johnson) Hannagan; four grandchildren, NaKeyia Marie Harris, Corben James Hannagan, Jerry Dean Hannagan III, and Jacob Wayne Beenken; five sisters, Mary L. Brass, Judy (Ron) Marley, Patti (Phil) Orndorff, Janice Sutton, Lori (Mike) Jarvis; and multiple nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Stephan Wayne and Seth Allen; step-father, John L. Moss; four brothers, Robert Thien, Donnie (Kay) Thien, Ronnie Thien, and Jeffrey Moss; brother-in-law, William Brass; and nephews, Kevin Michael Thien and James Orndorff. A graveside service to honor Deborah Jean's life will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, February 12, 2022, at Park Cemetery, Fairmount. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Fairmount Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 415 S. Main Street, Fairmount.
