Deanna Joan Detherage

Deanna Joan (Hipskind) Detherage, 71, died Saturday night, January 16, 2021 at AMG Specialty Hospital, Muncie, Indiana. She was born in Logansport on September 25, 1949, the daughter of Harold and Bonnie (Shepler) Hipskind. She married Robert A. Detherage on March 13, 1965. Deanna grew up one of eight children in Logansport and Fairmount, then lived most of her adult life in Marion. She enjoyed painting ceramics and worked at Bee Ceramics. Later she also enjoyed substitute teaching. For the past fiteen years of her life she and Robert have lived in Jonesboro. Deanna was a wonderful mother and loved her family the most. She was always a caring and supportive mother for her five children. Survivors include her children: Sonja (Norm) Dziedzic of Park Ridge, Illinois; Bob Detherage Jr. of Marion; Scott Detherage of Marion; Kyle Detherage of Fairmount; and Karmyn Detherage of Marion; a brother, Daniel (Brenda) Hipskind, of Fairmount; two sisters, Sherril Niverson of Fairmount and Tami (Clark) Verette of New Paris; eleven grandchildren: Wesley and Grace Dziedzic (Sonja and Norm); Rhiannon and Corey Driscoll (Bob); Nevaeh and Kamara Detherage (Kyle); and Jalen, McKenzie, Maurice Detherage; Garond and Camryn McCray/Detherage (Karmyn). In addition to her parents, Deanna was preceded in death by her sisters Sandy Hipskind, Roberta (Jerry) Rhodes and Rosemary Macario; her brother Michael Hipskind and her brother-in-law, Sonny Niverson. Arrangements have been entrusted to Armes-Hunt Funeral Home in Fairmount. Visitation will be on Monday, January 25th from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM. Funeral Mass will be on Monday at 1:00 PM at Holy Family Catholic Church,325 E North A St, Gas City, IN with Father Hurly Officiating. A graveside Prayer Service and burial will following at Park Cemetery, Fairmount. Please observe Covid 19 restrictions during the viewing and graveside service to keep us all safe: wear a mask, 6 ft. social distancing and no congregating beyond groups that live together.
