David C. Plummer, Sr.

David C. Plummer, Sr., 90, passed away at his home on Sunday, September 10, 2023. David was born on June 12, 1933, to the late Lloyd and Ollie Plummer. He grew up in Owingsville, Kentucky. On February 4, 1962, he married the love of his life, Joyce Toler. They met in Marion after growing up only three miles apart in Kentucky. Joyce passed away in April of 2016. A devoted and loving husband, David still missed his wife immensely. Upon moving to Marion, David worked at the Marion VA Hospital for more than a decade as a dietician. He then went to work for General Motors, where he worked for more than 30 years, first in production, and then in salvage repair. He served his country in the United States Army. David enjoyed gardening and grew award-winning tomatoes. He was an outstanding character and had a generous heart. A loyal husband and father, he will always be remembered as someone who always showed up.

David is survived by his sons, David (Rachel) Plummer, Jr., Kendallville, and Kevin (Angela) Plummer, Utah; grandchildren, Bryce, Julie, and Ashlyn; and sister, Loretta (Bill) Hogge, Mairon.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Ollie; wife, Joyce; brother, Hezekiah Plummer; and sisters, Laura Jane, Irene (Eddie) Smith, and Gladys Plummer.

Arrangements for David have been entrusted to the College Park Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services. A private graveside service will be held at Marion National Cemetery at a later date.
