Dan D. Campbell

Dan D. Campbell, 87, died Tuesday, October 8, 2019, at University Nursing Center in Upland. Dan was born in Wabash County, Indiana on July 27, 1932, one of ten children of the late Albert and Clara (Whitcraft) Campbell. Dan graduated from Jefferson High School in 1950. He proudly served his country in the Army from 1952-1954 as a special forces paratrooper during the Korean War. Dan married Darlene L. Behr on June 6, 1952, at the Friends Church. Darlene preceded him in death on April 25, 2011. Dan was a retired Grant County Farmer receiving the Grant County Outstanding Farmer in 1965. He was a member of the Cattlemans Association, a past president of the Grant County Fair Board, past president and charter member of the Fowlerton Lions Club, served on the Jefferson Township Advisory Board, served on the Bond committee of Eastbrook High School and was a Life Member as well as past commander of the American Legion Post 313, Fairmount. Dan is survived by his five children, Leslie (Chuck) Banter, Jonesboro, Mark (Karen) Campbell, Hernando, MS, Pamela (Art Phillippe) Campbell, Jonesboro, Patrick Campbell, Fairmount, and Dr. John (Vickie) Sullivan, San Diego, CA; three grandchildren, Josh (Andrea) Banter, Summitville, Jeremy Banter, Jonesboro, and Derek (Marilyn) Campbell, Corona, CA; four great-grandchildren, Clayton and Lauren Banter, Andrea Kayser, and Olivia Banter, Emma and Lanie Banter; brother, Earl (Ada) Campbell, Finley Ohio; and many nieces and nephews. Dan was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and siblings, Myrtle Atkinson, Doris Campbell, Sarah Slater, Everett Campbell, Lloyd Campbell, Albert Campbell, Jr., and Helen Shear, Ethel Hoak, and Irene Campbell. Armes-Hunt Funeral Home Cremation Services, 415 S. Main Street, Fairmount, Indiana where visitation will be on Friday, October 11, 2019 from 2-4 PM with the funeral service at 4 PM with Rev. Ginny Soultz officiating alongwith military rites.
