Curtis A. Cloud

Curtis A. Cloud, 64, of Fairmount, died unexpectedly Friday, July 26, at home. Curt was born December 19, 1954, in Marion to the late Billy A. and Annalee S. (Stephens) Cloud. He was a 1973 graduate of Madison-Grant High School and received a degree in journalism from Ball State University. He was an advertising director for many newspapers, including Gannett and United Media Group. Patriotism was important to Curt. As an active member of Squadron 313 of the Sons of the American Legion, he held many offices, including Commander for three years. He initiated and oversaw the Adopt-A-Flag program. In 2014, he served as co-chairman for the State American Legion Golf Tournament, which was hosted by Post 313. Curt was passionate about his community and organizations in which he was involved. Hedid all he could do to make his hometown a better place to live andinstrumental in seeingthe Fairmount Christmas lights were an annual tradition. Curtwas electedinNovemberto serve on theFairmount Town Council andwas a member of the Gas City Moose Lodge. Curt enjoyed flower gardening, was an avid golfer, a Chicago Cubs and Butler University Bulldogs fan. He loved almost any sport. On July 13, 2018,Curt married the love of his life, Kammi Kay Marine, at the James Dean Stage at Playacres Park, Fairmount. Kammi and her family gave him a new vision for life. Kammi survives in Fairmount. Also left to miss him are special friends, Carolyn Buroker, Fairmount, Susan Gift, Monticello, IN, and Janice Parks, Rochester, IN; cousins, Dennis Cloud, Fort Meyers, FL and Jennifer Schroeder, Valparaiso, IN; mother-in-law, Sandy (Ronald) Dawson, Jonesboro, IN; father-in-law, Gregg Marine, Rigdon, IN; Kammis grandparents, Mark and Mary Louise Marine; Kammis siblings, Desiree Tolson (David) and their children, Ariana and Colton; Cameron Marine (Laura) and their children, Landen and Teeghan; Kyle Marine and his daughter, Maribelle; Adam Dawson (Ashton) and their children, Ayden, Alyxia, and Alayna; Daysha Dawson (Matt Lamphear) and children Noah, Hope, Logan, and Zoe. He also leaves behind hismany friends and family from American Legion Post 313 and his cats, Tank and Puzzle. Funeral services for Curt will be held Saturday, August 3, 2019, at 2 PMat Fairmount Chapel Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 415 S. Main St., Fairmount, Indiana, with visitation from 10-2 prior to the funeral. Interment will be at Park Cemetery, Fairmount. There will be an American Legion Honor Salute At 2 PMby AmericanLegion Post 313, Sons of the American Legion, and the American Legion Auxiliary. Memorial contributions may be made to the SALs Adopt-A- Flag Program and can be made at the funeral home. This program provides the means to replace the honor flags along State Road 26, Main Street, and Washington Street in Fairmount.
