Clovis A. Rukes

January 27, 1937 — May 14, 2022

Clovis Allen "PeeWee" Rukes, of Muncie, formerly of Terre Haute, passed away on May 14th, 2022 at Bethel Pointe Health and Rehabilitation in Muncie, IN. He was born on January 27, 1937 in Burnette, Indiana to Clovis Everett Rukes and Elizabeth May Harris. Clovis married the love of his life Linda Rukes on June 25, 1960. Clovis spent most of his life in Terre Haute, but also lived in Maine, New York and Muncie. He worked as a boilermaker and in transportation for several companies including Rose Brothers Trucking and Growers Ag Chemicals. Clovis was a proud American and served his country in the Marine Corps, including a stint in Korea. He enjoyed golf, camping, bowling, roller skating and fishing. Clovis was an avid sports fan, especially racing, baseball and basketball. He supported youth by helping them in any way he could - working on their cars, managing a band, coaching youth basketball, taking them fishing etc.... Clovis was preceded in death by his wife and parents; his sisters, Maxine ( Charlie ) Maxine Tackett, Anne Rosalie ( Hershel ) Alsup, Camilla Elizabeth"Till" ( Jim )Dean; his brothers Ralph Rukes (infant) Charles Rukes, Paul Rukes. Survivors include; daughter, Diana (Kemuel) Rukes Badger; grandchildren, Lindsay (Seth) Badger James; Hannah (Justin Crowder) Badger; and Braya ( Alex Walker ) Badger; great-grandchild, Emberly James; brother-in-law, Greg Walker; and several nieces and nephews. Along with his lifetime friends, Janet and Forrest Bevis of Port Orange, Florida. We will miss his loving ways, patient demeanor and the gift of being happy and humble with what life gives you. He showed true love and kindness to everyone who ever knew him. The family would like to express thanks to the staff and nurses of, Heart to Heart Hospice and Bethel Pointe Health and Rehabilitation for their care of Clovis. Special thanks to Pastor Phil Rodger who spent many hours with him during his end of life journey. As per Clovis' and Linda's request, a memorial service honoring both of their lives will be held at the Mathews Cemetery on July 23@ 11 am .
