Charles J. Himelick

Charles J. "Chuck" Himelick, 86 passed away Saturday, February 3, 2024, at Riverview Health in Noblesville, Indiana.  Chuck was born to Ralph and Grace (Newby) Himelick on May 27, 1937 in Upland, Indiana.  He married Nedra Cates on August 11, 1963, and she preceded him in death in 2021.

In 1955, Chuck graduated from Fairmount High School, part of the victorious sectional team that triumphed over Marion. Post-graduation, he enlisted in the Army, serving as a Fire Control Specialist in Korea with the Second Armored Division.

Back home, Chuck became the first barefoot water skier in Grant County at the Mississinewa Boat Club. His professional journey led him to a 42-year tenure as a Foreman at Dana Corporation. Upon retirement, he selflessly volunteered at Marion General Hospital and joined Faith Harvest Church, formerly Mt. Olive United Methodist Church.

Chuck's diverse passions included reading, golf, mowing, and computer games. Yet, above all, he was a natural protector, embodying love as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. His life unfolded with purpose, adventure, and a legacy of warmth and care.

Chuck is survived by his children Rodney (Kim) Himelick and Cynthia Kiser and special adopted son Joe Enyeart; grandchildren Tyler Himelick and Elizabeth Kiser; siblings, Byron (Deanna) Himelick, Clarissa (Marty) Mart, Ethel Eib and brother-in-law Dan (Karen) Cates.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Nedra, brothers Joseph Himelick and George Himelick, sister L. Saralee Himelick, sister-in-law Marilyn Himelick, and brother-in-law Larry Eib.

Arrangements have been entrusted to College Park Chapel of Armes-Hunt Life Celebration Funeral Home and Cremation Services at 4601 South Western Avenue, Marion, Indiana 46953 where visitation will be held on Monday, February 12 from 4:00 PM -6:00 PM.  A funeral service will be on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at 10:00 A.M. with Reverand Doug Barton officiating.  Memorial Contributions may be made in Honor of Charles to Faith Harvest Church 2015 County Road 300 W Marion, Indiana 46952.  Online memories and condolences may be made at www.armeshuntfuneralhome.com.
