Charles E. Richards, passed away on August 16, 2023, at the age of 81 at Rolling Meadows.

Charles was born on November 15, 1941, in Marion, Indiana, son of the late Earl E. and Virginia M. (Baker) Richards. He Married Mary Anna Herring on July 27, 1969. She preceded him in death in 2015. Charles leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories.

Charles led a fulfilling life. He graduated from Fairmount High School, where he made lifelong friends. After graduating, Charles pursued a career in the grocery industry, becoming a food salesman for Lance Crackers and Snackers, retiring in 2005. He had also worked at RCA and was a manager for Biff burger.

However, Charles true joy in life came from his family. He was a loving father to his son Ronald (Amanda) Richards and his daughter Anna (Michael) Cronkhite, as well as a proud grandfather to Matthew (Kathryn), Aubrey (Zach), Devin (Madyson), Sophie, and Robert and three great-grandchildren, Laelyn, Hazel, and Keegan. He treasured every moment spent with them, showering them with unconditional love, support, and guidance. He also cherished his close bond with his siblings and their spouses, Marjorie Van Tuil, Martha (Ron) Rector, Marilyn (Mike) Jessie, Jim (Cheryl) Richards, Kenneth (Kim) Richards, and Mark (Patty) Richards, along with brother –in-law, Jerry (Judy) Herring.

Along with his parents and wife he was preceded in death by siblings, Martin Richards, and Mary Richards; in-laws, Cornelis Van Tuil, Cindy Richards, Beverly and Ray Holzheuer, Lewis, Leis, Sonny, Charles, Chuck and Joanie, Richard “Dick” Herring

Charlie's love for his country led him to join the Army National Guard, where he served with honor and dedication from 1953-1969. His time in the Guard instilled in him a sense of duty and gratitude, which he carried throughout his life.

Charles had a kind heart, loved a good conversation, and had the gift of gab. He was an 18 year cancer survivor, was a die-hard Cubs fan, enjoyed sports, and was a member of Sunnycrest Community Church.
