CG Freeman 88 of Fairmount, IN died Friday August 12, 2022 at Wesleyan Health and Rehabilitation Center, Marion, IN. CG was born in Poughkeepsie, Arkansas on September 27, 1933, son of the late Walt and Lela (Arnold) Freeman. CG graduated from High School in Poughkeepsie, Arkansas and soon after joined the Navy serving from 1955-1957. He married Mary K. "Kate" Davis on November 21, 1959. They were married 59 years before Kate's death in 2018. CG retired in 1979 from the Marion General Motors Plant where he worked as a crane operator. CG & Kate enjoyed traveling with the Fisher Body Camping Club, playing eucher, and were king and queen of the 2003 James Dean Festival. CG was a member of the Fairmount Masonic Lodge Chapter #635, Scottish Rite Valley of Ft. Wayne, Mizpah Shrine, Ft. Wayne, Grant County Shriner Club, and the Mizpah Shriners Scooter Patrol, and the CPC Sympathy Club. He was a volunteer driver for the Shriner's Burn Unit in Cincinnati and the Shriner's Bone Center in Chicago. CG is survived by daughter, Penny (Jeff) Benedict-Shaffer, Fairmount; son, Marc (Lisa) Freeman, Fairmount; sister-in-law, Mildred Freeman, Converse, brother-in-law, Ted Hobbs, AR; 6 grandchildren, Shelby (Daniel) Rumple, Caleb Freeman, Rebecca (Doug) Moore, Julia (Don) Harter, Marisa (Cody) Bohlander; 13 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren. CG was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son Randy Freeman; brother, Gary Freeman; sisters; Carmelitta Smith, Beauna (Garnet) Trosper, and Patsy Hobbs, granddaughter; Kathy Kuehner. Services for CG will be at the Fairmount Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 415 S. Main Street, Fairmount, Indiana on Visitation is Wednesday, August 17, 2022 from 11 AM-2 PM with funeral service beginning after the 2 PM Masonic Service, Mick Simpkins officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery, Fairmount, IN. Memorial contributions may be made to Shriner's Hospital for Children or Fairmount Masonic Lodge in care of the funeral home.
