Carol Small

Carol "Ricks" Small, 89, of Fairmount, took her first steps in heaven, Tuesday, January 18, 2022. Carol was born in Fairmount, Indiana on April 21, 1932, daughter of the late Wayne and Blanche (Listenfelt) Ricks. She graduated from Fairmount High School in 1950 and married John M. Small on November 8, 1951. They shared 66 years together until his death in 2018. Carol was a homemaker and hard-working farm wife. Her love for the Lord has shown through her service and membership since 1944 at Fairmount Baptist Church. She was a part of the Fairmount Baptist Trio that sang at many services throughout the county. Carol liked to quilt and participated in a knitting group. Carol was a great cook and gardener. She was a past volunteer at Fairmount Museum. Carol is survived by her children, John Lynn (Sue) Small, Fairmount, Michelle (Joe) Wells, Gas City, Philip (Holly) Small, Ft. Wayne; grandchildren, Michael (Jody) Small, Johanna (Steve) Kikendall, Ashley Motia, Carrie Wells, Jenna Donaldson, and Jama Casselman, and great-grandchildren Layla Kikendall, Sophia Small, and Memphis Rains. Carol was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Delores Spaulding, and brothers, Ronald and Herbert Ricks. Services for Carol will be held at the Fairmount Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 415 S. Main Street, Fairmount, Indiana on Wednesday, January 26, 2022. Visitation is from 10 AM - 12 PM. Funeral services is at 12 PM with Pastor Ted Payne officiating. Burial will be at Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fairmount Baptist Church in care of the funeral home.
