Carlene Rust

Carlene Marlow Rust, 91 of Jonesboro, Indiana, peacefully went home to heaven Wednesday, October 2, 2024 in the presence of her family at her home.

Born February 21, 1933 at Albany, KY to the late Joe Earnest and Maggie Susan (Starnes) Marlow. On July 10, 1978, she married David Thomas Rust at Clintwood, VA he survives.

Carlene attend Maple Run Friends Church, Marion. She worked mostly as a nurse's aide and had spent 10 yrs. working at Bradner Village Healthcare Center, now Millers Merry Manor in Marion, Indiana along with sewing factories in Albany and Byrdstown, Tennessee. Carlene loved her children, going to church and shopping. Cooking, gardening, and preserving the fruits and vegetables of her labor kept her busy during the summer months. She also enjoyed mowing and keeping an immaculate lawn.

Survivors including her husband are her children; Patricia (Bobby Thurman) Stearns, Roberta Evans, Wilda (Jim) Hatfield, Brenda (David) Guffey, and Steve Bridgeman, siblings, Josephine Marlow, and Kenneth Marlow. 15 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by four children, Jimmy, Janice, Larry, and Jeffery Bridgeman, three grandchildren and two great grandchildren, siblings, William Marlow, Ovadean Bertram, Beulah Phizer, Lucille Barnes, Pearl Marlow, Irene Marlow.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Fairmount Chapel of Armes-Hunt

Life Celebration Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 415 S. Main St., Fairmount, IN. Services for Carlene will be held on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at Maple Run Friends Church, 4460 W 400 S, Marion, IN 46953. Visitation is from 11 AM-1 PM with the funeral service at 1 PM with Pastors John Key and John Lenfesty officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery, Fairmount.
