Betty J. Creek, 92, of Sellersburg, Indiana, formerly of Fairmount, died at 12:10 PM, on Saturday, August 20, 2022, at Scott Memorial Hospital in Scottsburg, Indiana. She entered this world on June 21, 1930, in Huntington, Indiana, born to Floyd and Lois (Bright) Haynes. Betty married Max Creek on May 29, 1949 and he preceded her in death on January 7, 1995. Betty was a graduate of Anderson High School and Indiana Business College. She worked as a secretary for the former Occidental Petroleum in Fairmount. In her spare time, Betty enjoyed gardening, quilting, and reading. She spent many hours watching nature from her lake cottage, a passion that she passed to her children and grandchildren. Betty also enjoyed her time as a snowbird in Florida. Betty is survived by her three children, Brenda Martin, of Sellersburg, Michael Creek, of Lafayette, Indiana, and Brian Creek, of Jackson, Wyoming; six grandchildren, Theodore Creek, Simon Creek, Jamie Farber, Shana Skirvin, Jared Mann, and Trevor Martin; three great-grandchildren, Ian Farber, Kaci Strong, Tyler Creek. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Max Creek; sister, Judy Nygard; and three brothers, Arthur Haynes, John Haynes, and Dwight Haynes. Arrangements are entrusted to the Fairmount Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 415 South Main Street, Fairmount, IN 46928. Inurnment of Betty's cremated remains will take place at a later date in Park Cemetery, Fairmount. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 6500 Technology Center Drive, Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN 46278.
