Bernd Harry Fischer, 63, passed away on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Bernd was born on December 12, 1959, to the late Harry and Christel Schindelmeiser Fischer, in Herne, Germany. He graduated from high school in Germany, and then graduated with his Bachelor's from the University of Tromso Conservatory in Norway. On August 3, 2002, he married Jari Mill, and she survives in Gas City. Bernd worked as a music teacher, teaching piano and organ. He worked recently for the local Community School of the Arts in Marion. Bernd served in the German Air Force. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, enjoyed all things music, going to air shows, looking at the constellations, and most of all, spending time with his friends and family.
Bernd is survived by his wife, Jari; sons, Christian Michelsen and Alexander Michelsen, both of Tromso, Norway; daughter, Melissa (Austin) Moss, Jonesboro; grandchildren, Emma, Halsey, Daition, Dawson, and Hayden; and brothers, Thomas (Marion), Daniel, and Simon Fischer, all of Germany.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Christel.
Arrangements for Bernd have been entrusted to the College Park Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 4601 South Western Avenue, Marion, Indiana 46953, where a visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, from 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Bishop Andrew Sorenson officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a hospice organization of the donor's choice.
