Aubrey William "Jake" Wilds, 87, of Jonesboro, entered eternal life with Jesus on Sunday, June 5, 2022 at Marion Health. Jake was born on May 31, 1935 in Marshall, North Carolina, the son of David Edward Wilds, and Lula Belle (Reece) Wilds. Jake served in the US Army from 1954-1956 where he was a cook. Jake married the love of his life on June 30, 1956. Jake and Vivian shared a true love story for nearly 66 years. Before moving to Indiana, Jake was the owner of Jakes Drive-in in Greeneville, TN, where he and Vivian worked together. He was a carpenter in skilled trades at CPC/GM for 22 years. Jake loved the Lord and served faithfully at Sunnycrest Baptist church where he was a deacon and helped with many building projects. Jake could do just about anything. He loved building and creating, building his own home as well as several others, remodeling homes, pouring concrete, and building swimming pools. He faithfully grew a large garden each year and enjoyed anonymously sharing it with others. Jake was your go-to guy when you needed advice on how to do just about anything. He was an outdoor man, enjoying hunting and fishing, and loved spending time with his family and his dog Lucky. Jake is survived by his wife Vivian; four children, Janice (Rex) Smith, Jonesboro, Deborah (David) Graves, Marion, Peggy (Edward) Dulhanty, Marion, and William (Sabrina) Wilds, Upland; six grandchildren, Jessica (Eric) Allen, Micah and Aaron Dulhanty, Jennifer O'Banion, Stacy (Josh) Wright, and Andrew (Alex) Wilds; six great-grandchildren, Molly and Addison Allen, Mya and Eli O'Banion, and Sam and Aubrey Wright; two siblings, Landon (Marleen) Wilds, Greeneville, TN and Bea (Ed) Butcher, Marion. Jake was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Gladys Linebarger, Reba Jones, Faine Wilds, David "DC" Wilds, Bernice (Harold) Shields. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Fairmount Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 415 South Main Street, Fairmount, Indiana. Services for Jake will be held at Sunnycrest Baptist Church, 2172 West Chapel Pike, Marion, Indiana on Saturday, June 11, 2022. Visitation is from 2-4 PM with the funeral service beginning at 4 PM with Pastor Troy Bishop officiating. Burial will be on Monday, June 13, 2022 at Marion National Cemetery at 1 PM with Military Rites. Memorial Contributions may be made to Sunny Crest Baptist Church.
