Marion: Amy L. Forshey, 47, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, with family by her side, on Thursday morning, August 18, 2016, in her residence. She was born in Akron, Ohio, the daughter of James Rice and Janet (Murray) Cosbey. Amy graduated from Firestone High School, Akron, Ohio, in 1987 and from Muskingum College, New Concord, Ohio, in 1991, with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. She earned her Master's Degree in Curriculum Instruction from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2004 and in 2013 she graduated from Ball State University, with a Doctorate in Special Education. On June 22, 1991, Amy married the love of her life, Mike Forshey, in Akron, Ohio. He survives. In 1995, the Forsheys moved from New Mexico to Upland, where she was employed for 10 years with Eastbrook Community Schools, teaching at Upland Elementary School. While there, she was instrumental in starting the Maximum Achievement Learning Lab. Since 2005, she was an associate professor of Special Education at Indiana Wesleyan University, Marion. Expanding her passion for education, she was a member of Learning Disabilities of America, Council for Exceptional Children, Association for Supervision Curriculum, International Reading Association, International Society for Technology in Education, Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority for Women Educators, and served as a Board Member for Learning Disabilities of Indiana. In her spare time, she enjoyed taking walks, spending time with family, gardening, and serving as a member of Hanfield United Methodist Church, Marion. In addition to her husband of 25 years, Mike, she is survived by two sons, Brandon (fiance: Morgan Cook) Forshey, Marion, and Evan Forshey, at home; mother and step-father, Janet Jack Cosbey, South Bend; father, James Rice, Medina Ohio; two brothers, James (Teresa) Rice, Bath, Ohio, and Andrew Rice, New York City; a sister, Elizabeth (Nick) Donaldson, Chicago; and several nieces and nephews.
