Alyssa M Byer

March 23, 1971 — June 24, 2022

Alyssa Marie Byer, 51, sadly passed away unexpectedly on, Friday, June 24, 2022, in Jonesboro. She was born on March 23, 1971, in Union City, OH, to James Dickey and the late Cathy L. (Oswalt) Kelly. Alyssa was a very beautiful and bright soul. Her smile was so contagious and could light up any room. Alyssa always talked about how from childhood she was an animal lover. She always had animals growing up, at one time they had 5 dogs running around their house. She passed this love on to her daughter Alainee. Alyssa loved traveling, she started traveling with her family at a young age going from Texas to Mississippi, and back to Ohio. She graduated from Mississinewa Valley High School, Class of 1989. Alyssa became a mother in 1993 to Alekzander Byer, then she had Alton Byer in 1995. She attended college to become an LPN, and then in 2004 she gave birth to her final child Alainee Byer. Her children were her passion, they were her reason for living, she truly loved being a mother and would tell everyone that being a mother was who she was. She enjoyed taking them to Kings Island, to all of the surrounding county fairs and just spending time with them. Alyssa worked as an LPN at Marion General Hospital for 15 years on the labor and delivery floor. She always talked about how this was her all-time favorite career. She loved helping to bring new lives into this world. Alyssa was great at helping the new mothers through labor and helping them after they had their babies with whatever they needed. She was also a great support for the mothers and families whose babies passed away. Alyssa was passionate about gardening, and anything to do with crafts. She loved to paint. Alyssa was a brilliant cook in the kitchen and always swore by her recipes. She enjoyed watching all of the different cooking shows to get new ideas to make for her family. Aydan Byer was her grandson, he lit her world up and was the highlight of her life. Tragically in 2018, she lost her daughter, Alainee; her son, Alton; and her mother, Cathy. This was devastating to her and their entire family. She spent a lot of time with her son Alek visiting their memorials. They would go home from visiting and she would make them a delicious meal. Alyssa attended Eastview Wesleyan Church. She lived a beautiful and fulfilling life. Alyssa was a family person, a devoted mother, grandmother, and daughter. She will truly be missed by many. Alyssa is survived by her father, James (Jane) Dickey, OH; son, Alekzander "Alek" (Katrina) Byer; grandson, Aydan Byer; brothers, Jason, Jeremy, Jeff, Tyler, and Zach Dickey; her ex-husband and close friend, Anthony Byer, ex-mother-in-law who was like a second mother to her, Ricky Tucker and many friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Cathy L. (Oswalt) Kelly; daughter, Alainee Maelynn Byer; and son, Alton Myles Byer. Arrangements for Alyssa have been entrusted to College Park Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 4601 S.
