Alessia G. Stowers

Alessia Gay Stowers, 54 of Elwood, Indiana died Sunday April 17, 2016 at Community North hospital in Indianapolis. Alessia was born in Norfolk, Virginia on July 5, 1961, the daughter of the late Arthur W. Anderson and Imogene (Williams) Anderson, of Knoxville, Tennessee. Alessia graduated from Madison-Grant High School in 1979 and attended Ball State for a year. She went to work soon after in July 1981 at Wesleyan Headquarters where she worked for nearly 35 years. She started her carrier there in the treasurers office and in 1997 went to work in the Pension office. Alessia loved her job at Wesleyan Headquarters, the many friends and associates that she worked with every day, as well as interacting with the many pastors and missionaries.Her favorite thing, above all, was spending time with her children. She also enjoyed her friends,photography, going to movies, sitting on her porch with Mia, visiting beaches with her family, and everything Disney.She also loved her Fairmount Baptist Church family. Alessia is survived by her husband of 29 years, David L. Stowers. They were married in Jonesboro, IN on September 27, 1986. Also surviving are their three children she loved dearly; Kristin Stowers, Greenwood, IN and Brandon and Megan Stowers, both at home, two sisters; Deborah (Larry) Solomon, Knoxville, TN and Katrina (Thomas) Hendrix, Jonesboro, TN, two brothers; Arthur (Maria) Anderson, Jr. Smithsburgh, MD and Aaron (Barbara) Anderson, Fairmount, IN, and many nieces and nephews. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Fairmount Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 415 S. Main Street, Fairmount, Indiana where there will be a visitation on Friday, April 22, 2016 from 2-8 PM and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Funeral service honoring Alessia will be on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at 11:00 AM with Dr. Jerry DeHart, Robert Haymond, Larry Soloman officiating. Graveside service and burial will follow at Vinson Cemetery in Summitville, IN. Memorial contributions may be made to Global Partners of the Wesleyan Church or Fairmount Baptist Church in care of the funeral home.
