Sarah M. Bowman

Sarah M. Bowman, 69 of rural Jonesboro, died Monday, November 2, 2020 at Lutheran Hospital. Sarah was born in Marion, Indiana on March 24, 1951, daughter of the late Thurlow and Cora (Marvin) Knight II. On April 28, 1967, Sarah married the love of her life, Billy R. Bowman. She was a homemaker and a wonderful cook and baker. You could describe a dish to her, and she could make it. Her specialty was chocolate peanut butter fudge. She loved traveling with Bill, sewing and quilting, collecting Coke and Elvis memorabilia, and spending time with her family. Her great-grandchildren were her life. She was a member of Back Creek Friends Church. Sarah is survived by her husband of 53 years, Billy Bowman; three children, Mary (Christopher) Phillippe, Huntington, Lori Bowman, Gas City, Maria (Chuck) Thinnes, Gas City; two brothers; Charles (Norma) Knight, PA, and Jimmy (Debbie) Knight, Marion; sister-in-law Gracie Knight, Marion; seven grandchildren, Michael (Trinity) Quinn, Tiffany (Bob) Black, Cody (Marissa) Quinn, John (Jill) Thinnes, Melanie Thinnes, Chase Bullard, and Cody Phillippe, 23 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, Sarah was preceded in death by her son Billy, sisters, Nora Leotta Glover and Dorothy Bragg; brothers, Robert Knight and Thurlow (Button) Knight III. Visitation for Sarah will be at the Fairmount Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 415 S. Main Street, Fairmount, Indiana on Saturday, November 7, 2020, from 12-3 PM with funeral service starting at 3 PM with Mick Simpkins officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Autism Society of Indiana in care of the funeral home.
