Charlotte Ann Puckett

Charlotte Ann Puckett, 90, formerly of Upland, passed away early Wednesday morning, October 2, 2019, in her Avon home. She was born in Blackford County, on December 26, 1928, the daughter of the late Henry and Florence (Gillespie) Townsend. She was a 1946 graduate of Jefferson Township High School and earned her Bachelors Degree in Nursing from Ball State University in 1950. She was a Registered Nurse for over 50 years serving both Dr. George O. Parks private practice and as the Public Nurse for the Blackford County Health Department. On June 28, 1950, she married the love of her life, Richard B. Puckett, in Upland. Together they shared 48 years before he preceded her in death on September 6, 1998. Mrs. Puckett was a born again Christian who attended church regularly. She was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time with family, especially during weekends at the lake, and was active in the Upland Community for many years. As a charter member of Our Town Upland, she helped bring the depot back to town and read the poem The Light of Upland at the town Christmas Tree Lighting each year. Survivors include her children Susan E. (Michael) Hoover, Stilesville; Jane E. (Kenneth) Rockwell, Port St. Joe, Florida; and Jay R. (Kristine) Puckett, Brownsburg; six grandchildren: Scott Hoover, Michelle Brennan, Danielle (Jimmy) Summey, Dustin (Eric) Spencer, Jayson (Taylor) Puckett, Kayla (Kolby) Bath; three step-grandchildren: Angela (Michael) Benefiel, Shannon Goble, and Rebecca Leffingwell; 8 great grandchildren; a brother: David (Connie) Townsend; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother Charles Townsend. Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2019 from 11 am -3pm at Pierce United Methodist Church, 201 N. 8th St, Upland, Indiana. The funeral service will be at 3:00 pm at the church with Pastor Rodney Rice officiating. Burial will follow in Jefferson Cemetery, Upland. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Jones-Smith Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home Cremation Services, 259 N. Main St., Upland, Indiana.
