Betty Lee Waggy, 89, died Monday, August 30, 2021, at her Fairmount residence surrounded by her family. Betty was born on January 17, 1932, in Rigdon, Indiana, daughter of the late Jasper and Beulah (Hamilton) Hofer. She graduated from Mississinewa High School in 1949. She worked at RCA/Thomson's for over 30 years retiring in 1992. Betty was a free-spirited, kind-hearted woman that was always ready and willing to lend a helping hand. She was known to stop and help stranded motorists. She loved praising the Lord and experiencing worship at different churches. A world traveler, there were few countries she hadn't visited. One of her favorites was the Holy Lands. She also attended the Rose Bowl Parade. She loved tour groups and keeping in touch with people she met while traveling. Betty also loved flowers and working in her flower beds. Missing her smile and laughter are her children, Teresa (Jerry) Cobb, Fairmount, Mike (Wedonnia) Ballard, Jonesboro, Delronda Sue (Tom) Ford, Chesapeake, VA, Dan (Kathy) Ballard, New Smyrna Beach, FL; grandchildren, Marcus (Crystal) Parsons, Nicholas (Kathryn) Parsons, Victoria (Jon) Matthews, Robert (Cecille) Ford, Nichole West, Danny (Deana) West, great-grandchildren; Isiah Hedley and Naomi West; and several nieces and nephews that considered her their grandma. Betty was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Jack Hofer and Joann Coe. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Fairmount Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 415 South Main Street, Fairmount, Indiana. Betty's family is honoring her wishes by being cremated. A memorial service celebrating Betty's life will be Monday, October 4th, 2021 at 1:00 PM with visiting hours beginning from 11:00 AM until time of service, all located at Harmony Christian Church 9043 W 1800 N Elwood, IN 46036 with Pastor Josh Shoemaker and Ron Meyers officiating. Due to Betty's love of flowers and gardening memorial contributions may be made to the Fairmount Garden Club in care of the funeral home.
